The City of Chandler Police Department, Communications Division is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as an Emergency Call Taker. This is a parttime, non-exempt position with full benefits. The anticipated work schedule is varied (see hours section).

Who we are
The City of Chandler Police Department, consisting of 362 sworn officers and 177 civilians, serves a growing population of close to 287,945 residents. The organization is divided into three main divisions, one bureau, and many sections/units. The Patrol Operations Division consisting of three precincts, 1) Main Station - Downtown & North Chandler, 2) Desert Breeze - West Chandler, and 3) Chandler Heights - South Chandler, work in concert with the Criminal Investigations Division, Operational Support Division, and Professional Services Division to meet the needs of the community. Who we are looking for
Our ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment; and is competently able to do the following:


Answers emergency and non-emergency calls; performs intake duties; prioritizes calls, enters calls into CAD within the required time frame.Enters information into appropriate systems.Assists dispatch personnel, as necessary.Transfers callers to the appropriate internal/external departments.Monitors and relays information to field personnel and other agencies through the use of City traffic cameras, various 911 assistance tools, multi-agency report databases, etc.Provides emotional support to callers.Provides training to new employees and officers, as required.

Minimum qualifications


A High School Diploma or GED; and Must possess 1-year of experience as an Emergency Call Taker, and Must obtain and maintain Arizona DPS Terminal Operator Certification Level A within six (6) months of hire or promotion; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Desired qualifications


Experience in the operation of telecommunication equipment, computers, or radios preferably in a public safety environment.Experience and/or training in police dispatch or related field.Currently possesses an Arizona DPS Terminal Operator Certification Level A
Supervision
Work is performed under the supervision of a division supervisor or manager.

This is a parttime, non-exempt position with benefits, with a varied work schedule to include day, swing, and night shifts. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment background check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.
