Category Manager –Construction/CapEx
Job Description Summary
The Category Manager –Construction/CapEx is a key procurement professional responsible for managing sourcing strategy, contract execution, and supplier performance across operationally critical subcategories within the Real Estate portfolio at Humana.
This role focuses on driving efficiency, operational consistency, process governance, and supplier accountability, while closely partnering with vendor managers and internal stakeholders to meet business and compliance objectives. The Category Manager will bring a common-sense approach to sourcing—especially in fast-paced areas like Construction/CapEx—and lead strategic initiatives to improve contract execution timelines, reduce total cost of ownership, and enhance supplier partnerships.
**Key Responsibilities**
**1. Category Strategy & Execution**
+ Develop and execute sourcing and procurement strategies across **Construction/CapEx, and related categories** , aligning efforts with broader enterprise goals.
+ Lead RFPs, negotiations, and contract development, ensuring contracts are structured for performance, scalability, and risk mitigation.
+ Collaborate closely with **vendor managers** to ensure **supplier performance oversight** , contract adherence, and continuous improvement.
+ Conduct **market, spend, and risk analyses** to drive informed, data-backed decisions.
+ Partner cross-functionally with **Facilities, Real Estate, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Procurement teams** to ensure sourcing strategies align with operational needs.
**2. Construction/CapEx Subcategory Management**
+ Manage sourcing for **General Contractors, Project Management Services, and Lease Administration Support** .
+ Target opportunities to **streamline deal structures, enhance supply chain efficiency** , and reduce redundancy in vendor engagements.
+ Support governance efforts by defining and implementing **standard operating procedures and procurement best practices** for capital projects.
+ Work with real estate leadership and vendor managers to **optimize deal flow, improve timelines, and support project delivery** .
+ Support efforts to **improve governance and transparency** in lease administration services and construction workflows.
**4. Stakeholder Collaboration & Governance**
+ Act as a **trusted sourcing advisor and business partner** for internal stakeholders in Construction/CapEx, Real Estate, Legal, and Finance.
+ Ensure **vendor management strategies and sourcing activities** are aligned to meet budgetary goals and contractual obligations.
+ Track and report on **performance metrics, SLAs, and KPI achievement** for all managed subcategories.
+ Lead **supplier performance reviews** in collaboration with vendor managers to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.

**Qualifications & Skills**
**Required:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in **Supply Chain Management, Business, Facilities/Real Estate Management** , or a related field
+ **3+ years of experience** in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain roles with exposure to **construction, real estate, or related categories**
+ Strong experience in **contract negotiation, vendor management, and process improvement**
+ Analytical and financial acumen with proficiency in **spend analysis and supplier performance evaluation**
+ Ability to work collaboratively with **vendor managers and operational leaders** to deliver procurement value
**Preferred:**
+ Experience in sourcing some or all of the following categories: **general contractors, real estate management, Furniture, Fixtures, & Equipment (FF&E)**
+ Familiarity with **capital project governance, maintenance programs, and real estate services**
+ Project management experience in high-complexity categories or environments
+ Master’s degree (MBA, Supply Chain, or related field)

**Pay Range**
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$78,400 - $107,800 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
