The Arizona Department of Health Services promotes and protects the health of Arizona’s children and adults. We strive to set the standard for personal and community health through direct care, science, public policy, and leadership.
ADHS streamline programs for the wellness and health in its communities. Most recently, its Office of Vital Records won the Constellation Awards from the National Association for Public Health Statistics and Information Systems. In addition, ADHS won 1st place for the Grassroots Campaign "Healthy Swimming Program."
ADHS is responsible for a number of programs including: licensing, regulation of health care & child care facilities. Disease control, immunization education & emergency preparedness. Also emergency medical services, state laboratory, public health statistics, and radiation regulatory programs. In addition, vital records which include birth & death certificates. ADHS is responsible for operation of the Arizona State Hospital, a state-operated psychiatric inpatient facility.
